It's essential to know how to repair wood corners because it is the most common problem you'll face with picture frames. Whether they fall from the wall, sometimes get knocked, or while getting older, they partially fall apart due to the wood glue drying out. Don't bin it, fix it! And become an everyday #repairhero!
Like any self-respecting #repairhero, you must have a superpower! When it comes to repairing porous objects, your ally is Bostik Super Glue Gel. Its non-running texture enables vertical application. It has slightly longer set time than regular cyanoacrylates, allowing time to position the materials together after application.
How to repair a wooden frame with Bostik Super Glue Gel – a step by step guide
- Step 1: Be prepared
Take the two pieces of your wooden frame, and make sure you have the soon-to-be touching parts evenly sanded. Ensure the surfaces are dry, free from dust and grease. - Step 2: Get gluing
Apply a small amount of superglue around one of the sanded surfaces. - Step 3: Assemble the parts
Assemble the sticky parts and gently press both pieces of the wooden frame onto each other, then hold for a while to create an initial tack. - Step 4: Time to stick your wooden frame
Hold the pressure for about fifteen seconds; that’s it! You are now an official #repairhero
- Essential: Bostik Super Glue Gel
- You might also want:
- sandpaper - if necessary - to smooth the surfaces to be glued
- a soft cloth, to be soaked with acetone
- acetone, to remove excess glue
Made a little mess?
- On my skin: do not try to pull the glue off your fingers as this may damage your skin. With sweat’s moisture, the bond will loosen within 30 minutes without doing anything. Apply warm soapy water to help dissolve the bond. Do not use acetone or solvents on the skin.
- On my furniture: acetone will soften the glue very slowly. Check that the surfaces to which the superglue is bonded won’t be damaged by the solvent
