Features & benefits

Bostik Super Glue Gel is a high viscosity, modified ethyl-based cyanoacrylate which bonds almost immediately on contact. It has hundreds of uses for the home and office, and is ideal for vertical surfaces.

  • Gel formula provides a non-drip application
  • Water & heat resistant
  • Safer formulation, odourless and solvent-free
  • Slightly flexible so It resists knocks & drops

Super Glue Gel works well on both porous and non-porous materials, and also works on more materials than the regular super glues. It's ideal for:

  • China
  • Rubber
  • Metal
  • Ceramics
  • Jewellery
  • Most plastics

How to use

Application

Ensure all surfaces that will be in contact with the sealant are clean, dry, and free of dust, dirt, rust, oil, and other contaminants. Wear protective gloves and eye protection.

  • Ensure the tube is held upright and pointing away from you
  • Avoiding skin contact, apply a small amount of Bostik Super Glue Gel to one surface only
  • Bring the two surfaces together and hold firmly for approximately 30 seconds
  • Replace the cap firmly after use

Always replace cap after use, and store in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight.

FAQs

What does the term 'viscosity' mean?

Viscosity is the measure of a fluid's resistance to flow. The higher the viscosity of a liquid, the thicker it is and the greater the resistance to flow.

Glue can be various measures of viscosity, with each measure having it's own benefits based on the application required. Low viscosity glue will spread easily, whereas high viscosity glue is ideal for vertical surfaces or areas that need a concentrated application.

What is the shelf life of the adhesive I have bought and where can I store it?

The shelf life of adhesives varies from product to product, but typically ranges between one and two years from the date of manufacture when unopened and stored correctly in dry conditions - usually between +5°C and +25°C. Once opened, the life of the product will be more limited – this is dictated by variables including the type of adhesive, how it is stored, and how much adhesive is left unused. For more information, refer to the product’s Technical Data Sheet.

Do I need a super glue gel or a super glue liquid?

A super glue liquid has a low viscosity, meaning the liquid flows easily. This type of formula is great for filling horizontal surface cracks and fractures where the adhesive can flow into the cracks.

A super glue gel has a higher viscosity, making it less 'runny' and less likely to drip. Gels are ideal for vertical application and for porous surfaces and tend to be easier to apply as they are harder to spill.

Does super glue work in the cold?

Yes, all Bostik super glues remain highly effective providing a strong, long-lasting bond in the cold, including temperatures as low as -20°C.

Is super glue flammable?

All Bostik super glues are non-flammable meaning they do not readily catch fire and do not burn easily.

Is super glue heat resistant?

Yes, all Bostik super glues are heat resistant up to +80°C.

Safety warning: Persistent heat may affect the strength and longevity of the bond and therefore should be avoided.

Is super glue waterproof?

All Bostik super glues are not waterproof and therefore we cannot recommend that they are safe for use in or around water.

Fix & Glue Gel and Fix & Glue Liquid are water-resistant meaning water has minimal effect on them, although we do not recommend using them in water-related projects.

What is super glue made of?

Bostik’s Super Glue Liquid and Super Glue Gel are all made of ethyl cyanoacrylate. Cyanoacrylate is an acrylic resin that cures almost instantly. The fast-setting, ultra strong and colourless properties of our super glue formulas make them perfect for day-to-day household uses in repair or DIY projects.

What is the difference between a multipurpose glue and super glue?

The main difference between a multipurpose glue and a super glue is the drying time. A super glue bonds within seconds (almost instantly) and an all purpose adhesive bonds within minutes (typically within five minutes). Multipurpose glue is ideal for use on a wide range of substrates, including paper, whereas super glue is more suited for use on solid surfaces only.
